St. Croix Valley Fusion senior Devin Roen of River Falls holds up the sectional championship plaque and lets out a yell while being mobbed by her teammates Friday night in Hudson.

The Fusion clinched their first-ever trip to the girls’ state hockey tournament with a 6-3 victory over Hayward. The next day, sophomore Megan Brown of the Wildcat gymnastics team (inset) gives freshman Amanda Guise a big squeeze at the sectional gymnastics tournament at the high school.
