A week before police had to break up a couple for having sex in a car in the municipal parking lot just before 8 a.m. Now they’ve been called to the public library where boys and girls in their early teens were said to be making out in the lower level – an area much-less used compared to the busy main floor.

The librarians have warned these so-called couples and kicked them out for their improper conduct. In one case, a girl was kneeling in front of a boy who had his pants unzipped.

Finally, last week Wednesday around 5 p.m. police were called to deal with the problem. An officer chased three juvenile suspects who ran outside the library. One, a 13-year-old boy, kept going until he was caught on the street.

The boy allegedly wouldn’t stop struggling and swore at the arresting officer. He may have been under the influence of an intoxicant.

So far no one’s been cited for indecent behavior. The 13-year-old was turned over to his mother. County social workers were contacted.

In the past week River Falls police:

  • Cited a 15-year-old boy for property damage after he allegedly kicked a large hole in his bedroom wall. The boy’s mother said he was angry that the family couldn’t afford to eat out at a restaurant. The boy will now be responsible for paying for a $77.50 fine.

  • Arrested a 19-year-old city of River Falls woman for knowingly driving without a valid license and for drunk driving in the 1300 block of Bartosh Lane just before seven in the morning. The woman allegedly crashed into three parked cars. Her driver’s license had expired the year before. The woman’s car was heavily damaged and lost a wheel. Her female passenger was cited for underage drinking.

  • Arrested a 17-year-old city of River Falls boy for going through cars and stealing from them in the AGR college frat house parking lot, 1024 E. Cascade Ave. This occurred just after midnight. The boy was spotted by college students and police were called. The suspect was also cited for underage-drinking-3rd offense.

  • Arrested a 20-year-old Ellsworth man for stuffing various sandwiches and a Vitamin water bottle down his pants before trying to leave the downtown Holiday store without paying. His pants were allegedly still bulging with the goods when an officer confronted him in the Holiday parking lot. This occurred at 5:15 a.m. Less than an hour before, the same man was cited for underage drinking after allegedly being with some other guys who tipped over a trash can in the 100 block of South Falls Street and then ran off laughing.
