Chamber lauds City's top citizen, businesses
The River Falls Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau hosted its annual banquet Tuesday evening. Among those honored were WESTconsin Credit Union, Bos N Mine, the River Falls Rotary Club and several individuals.
Arriving guests --some in costume -- were ushered across a red carpet and mugged by papparazzi Tuesday evening as the River Falls Chamber of Commerce celebrated business success with a homegrown Oscar theme.
Some 200 people supped on either "red carpet chicken", sirloin with cognac cream sauce or three-cheese cannelloni in the Kilkarney Hills dining room.
The program was emceed by Chamber executive director Rosanne Bump and ambassador volunteers Terry McKay and Brian Senoraske.
Named Citizen of the Year was Henry Dreistadt, retired United Methodist Church minister but active local volunteer.
Selected as Non-Profit of the Year was the River Falls Rotary. Healthy Communities Recovery Network was runner-up.
Cedric Ellingson and Don Fowell, co-owners of Bo's N Mine bar & restaurant took home the Small Business of the Year award, while Business of the Year was awared to WESTconsin Credit Union.
Runners up in the two categories were Dish and the Spoon Cafe and Riverwalk Mercantile in the small business category and F & K Trucking & Excavating in the large business sector.
Patsy and Steve Linehan were honored as Chamber Champions for 2008 and Patsy was also honored as Ambassador of the Year.
