The River Falls Police Department is hoping someone will recognize a dog that officers found after it was hit by a car on Hwy. 65 near the Division Street exit Monday.

The female dog is a black and tan Labrador/shepherd mix with white on its chest, estimated to be around one year old.

Police took the dog to the KinniCroix & River Falls Veterinary Clinic where it was determined it had broken its pelvis in three places.

Dr. Richard Jones-Witthuhn of the clinic described the dog’s disposition as “sweet,” and said it was resting comfortably, but he estimated it would cost between $4,000 and $6,000 to surgically repair the dog’s injuries. If the dog isn’t claimed within seven days, it may have to be euthanized.

The dog’s owners are urged to contact the River Falls Police Department at 425-0909.
