The National Weather Service says a weak low pressure system in the Ohio Valley will give most of the Badger State a fresh coating of powdery snow today.
Four to 5 inches are expected in the southern part of the state, and 1 to 4 inches elsewhere.
Forecasters say a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain could hit Wisconsin Thursday night through Friday and several more inches are expected from that.
And still another round of snow is due in Saturday and Saturday night. Meanwhile, it’s still bitter cold in Wisconsin this morning.
Land O’Lakes in Vilas County had 22 below zero at 5 a.m. today, and wind chills got down to 37 below zero in Ashland.
Parts of southern Wisconsin are below zero as well. Milwaukee had 2 degrees, but the wind chill was at 11 below zero.
The snow will bring slightly warmer temperatures. Tonight’s lows are supposed to stay around zero in the northwest.
