Alice Jeanette (Cudd) Johnson, 89, of River Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at The Lutheran Home.

Alice Jeanette (Cudd) Johnson, 89, of River Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at The Lutheran Home.

Alice was born on April 25, 1919, in Burnett County, the daughter of John and Hannah (Johnson) Cudd. She married Lawrence Johnson Sr. on Sept. 6, 1937.

She spent the first years of her life with her family in a log cabin near Cumberland. Her family moved to Pinnacle Farm in the River Falls area in the mid-1920s. She worked in retail for 58 years, retiring from Freeman Drug Store in 1984.

Her family was very important to her, especially all of her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brothers, sisters and sisters-in-law. She enjoyed gardening, shopping for antiques and refinishing furniture.

Alice is survived by her two children: Lawrence (Diane) Johnson of River Falls and Cynthia (Al) Moosbrugger of Olathe, Kan.; six grandchildren: Joanne Larson, Linda (Brian) Pechacek, Boyd (Paula) Johnson, Brenda (Jim) Simone, Stephanie (Lance) Downs and Jennifer (Justin) Grigg; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: John (Dorothy) Cudd of River Falls, Paul (Janet) Cudd of River Falls, and Gene Cudd of Hudson; sister, Arlene Hilden of River Falls; and sisters-in-law: Dorothy Cudd of Hudson, Connie Cudd of River Falls and Romaine (Don) (Cudd) Schone of River Falls.

Her husband; parents; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Leonard Bitterman; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Clarice Cudd; and brothers, Herb and Tom Cudd, preceded her in death.

A funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 7, at Ezekiel Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers were Boyd and Taylor Johnson, Charles and Nathan Larson, Wally Cudd, Colin Pechacek, Justin Grigg, Jim Simone and Brian Pechacek.

Honorary pallbearers were Vincent Simone and Payton Johnson.

Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The Lutheran Home, 640 N. Main St., River Falls, WI 54022, and ADORAY Hospice, 990 Hillcrest St., No. 104, Baldwin, WI 54002.

Cashman-Hill Funeral Home and Cremation Services of River Falls assisted the family with arrangements.
