The public can comment on a proposed 4% electric rate increase by River Falls Municipal Utilities.
The increase, the first since October 2001, is said to be due to rising operational and maintenance expenses and costs associated with maintaining the system’s reliability.
The average homeowner can expect to see a $3.46 increase in monthly electric bills; commercial users, on average, a $7.78 increase in monthly bills. Actual dollar amounts will vary depending on usage.
The rate hike request is before the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin in Madison.
