Garden writer Yockey to speak

The March 27 St Croix Valley Master Gardener meeting will feature a presentation on municipal efforts in the America in Bloom annual contest.

Terry L. Yockey, Master Gardener and garden writer from Red Wing, will tell how the Red Wing community came together last year to win the America in Bloom contest in their population category, as well as achieving an overall Environmental Awareness award in the contest.

River Falls is entered into the contest in the coming year. Yockey will explain how representatives from several different organizations and businesses worked together to improve their quality of life, to make Red Wing a more beautiful place to live, and techniques in winning the contest.

Terry L. Yockey's gardens have been featured in several periodicals including Midwest Living and Midwest Home magazines. Terry writes the column "Gardening Basics" for Northern Gardener magazine and has been writing feature articles for the magazine since 1993. She is also the garden columnist for the Republican Eagle newspaper and the publisher of the popular website, Northern Gardening at www.northerngardening.com.

The meeting will be held in the River Falls Library basement meeting room. Business meeting at 6:45 pm and the speaker at 7:15 pm. The public is welcome.
