Wrong-way driver arrested on I-94
A Baldwin man was arrested early Saturday morning after driving the wrong way on I-94, hitting a westbound vehicle and finally being stopped by tire-deflation devices, according to Sgt. Brian Erickson of the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Keith Steven Schumacher, age 27, was charged with fleeing and eluding an officer, causing bodily harm, driving the wrong way on a divided highway, reckless driving, endangering safety and operating without a valid license. Further charges are pending.
The incident occurred at about 2:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, near Hammond when a wrong-way driver was reported to St. Croix County Dispatch Center. St. Croix deputies attempted to stop the vehicle near Milepost 4. The vehicle was allegedly headed east in the westbound lanes.
Hammond Police Department personnel assisted and deployed tire deflation devices. At 2:23 a.m. the wrong-way vehicle crashed into a westbound vehicle near Milepost 14.
Schumacher’s vehicle struck a westbound vehicle operated by John J. McManus, 41, of Bloomington, Minn. McManus received unspecified non-life threatening injuries.
The State Patrol is investigating the crash. The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department is handling traffic charges. Baldwin EMS, United Fire Department, and Baldwin police also assisted at the scene.
