Lightning strike causes fire at home near Hudson

HUDSON - A lightning strike caused a damaging fire at a luxurious home near Hudson Saturday morning.

The River Falls Fire Department was called to a house fire at 263. St. Anne's Parkway in Troy Township a little before 11:30 a.m. Witnesses told 911 operators a lightning bolt had knocked a big hole in the roof of the million dollar home and smoke and flames were coming out of that hole.

Fire units from Hudson, Prescott, Roberts, Lower St. Croix (Minn.), town of St. Joseph and United Fire from Hammond, Baldwin and Woodville joined River Falls firefighters.

Property records indicate the home is owned by Norbert and Pamela Biderman.

High winds hampered firefighting efforts.

No one was at home at the time of the fire.
