The Eau Galle-Rush River Sportsman's Club held their 37th Annual Trout Fishing Contest at the Ellsworth Rod and Gun Club on opening day, May 5, of the trout season.

As we have been seeing, the trout aren't as large as they were years ago, but numbers of trout look good. We really feel some changes are needed by, maybe, increasing the bag limit and lowering the size of the fish.

We no longer stock the Rush River. There is enough reproduction in it.

Habitat work still needs to be done. We plan on doing a project in Martell and that is where all the money we made on our contest will be used.

We can't commend the Ellsworth Rod and Gun Club enough for the use of their facilities. Don't forget their every other Thursday chicken and their pheasant banquet in September. Any money you donate to these two clubs stays here in Pierce County and we are proud of that.

We know it is tough for small businesses and people to donate but, hopefully, they can see results that we put into it.

Appreciation goes to all who donated, bought an ad and bought tickets. A big salute to Hines Auction Service and Jack for calling our auction.

Congratulations to all of winners:
