Helmer benefit this Saturday

A benefit for Cindy (Follansbee) Helmer will be held from 1-9 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at The Bluffs Bar & Grill in Hager City.

A benefit for Cindy (Follansbee) Helmer will be held from 1-9 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at The Bluffs Bar & Grill in Hager City.

She has been diagnosed with stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer with lymph node involvement, a tumor behind her left eye, and evidence in her brain.

She has started radiation and chemotherapy but is unable to work at this time. She was working at Fashionaire, Inc, in River Falls until February 2012.

Cindy, 54, lives in River Falls, is married to Craig Helmer, and has four children: Renae Axtell, Matt Follansbee, Micky Follansbee and Casey Follansbee; along with eight grandchildren.

Activities at the benefit will include a silent auction, bake sale, paddle raffles, 50/50 raffle, live music, name the band contest, food (pig roast) from 4-6 p.m., bean bag toss (sign up starting at noon).

The band invites all musically inclined to an open “jam” session. Winners of raffles, auction items or prizes need not be present to win.
