Gov. Walker expected in Elmwood Friday afternoon
Gov. Scott Walker will be coming to Elmwood this afternoon (Friday) to read to third graders as part of the new "Read to Lead" statewide initiative which was announced this week.
ELMWOOD - Gov. Scott Walker will be coming to Elmwood this afternoon (Friday) to read to third graders as part of the new "Read to Lead" statewide initiative which was announced this week.
"Read to Lead" is a bipartisan effort aimed at improving the reading skills of children before they reach fourth grade.
Walker is expected to arrive at Elmwood at 1 p.m., after being in Stoddard (located just south of LaCrosse) this morning.
Elmwood Superintendent Paul Blanford said this morning he wasn't even informed of Walker's visit until the last 24 hours due to security reasons.
