The Hammond and Roberts Lions Clubs hosted a successful truck and tractor pull last Saturday.
Between 300 and 400 spectators attended the Saturday afternoon pull in the Roberts Village Park on Aug. 27.
All profits from the pull go to the Roberts Food Pantry, which serves families in the St. Croix Central School District.
While the donation total has yet to be calculated, Roberts Lions President Gene Hanson said he believes the pull raised more money this year than previous years, due to increased attendance and food and beverage sales.
“There was also a lot of community support and sponsorships from area businesses,” Hanson said.
Around 25 Lions Club volunteers helped to make the event a success, said Hanson.
“This was the first year the Roberts and Hammond Lions Clubs worked together on this event,” he said.
In the past the Roberts Lions Club was the sole host of the event.
“The Hammond Lions were great help,” Hanson said. “There was good team building and it was nice to have that camaraderie between the two clubs.”
He said he hopes the two clubs can work together on other community events in the future.
“It was a beautiful day and a lot of people came out to have fun and support the food shelf,” Hanson said.
