STAR PRAIRIE -- A 16-year-old Burnsville, Minn., boy died July 4 following a single-car accident in the St. Croix County town of Star Prairie.
According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department, Alexander Daniel Maslow was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry north on County Road CC when he failed to negotiate the curve on CC just south of County Road H, drove off the road and entered the ditch. The vehicle struck the embankment, went airborne and overturned, coming to rest in the ditch.
Maslow was wearing a seatbelt but was partially ejected from the car, according to the Sheriff’s Department report.
Officers were called to the scene at 1:38 a.m. Sunday, July 4.
Maslow was taken by Lifelink helicopter to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and died there later in the day.
Assisting at the scene were New Richmond firefighter and EMS and rescue workers along with Star Prairie First Responders.
The accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Department.
This is St. Croix County’s third traffic fatality of 2010.
