Packer fan grumbles about full-price ticket for baby

Should a Cheesehead have to pay $59 to get a 9-month-old baby into a Packer game?

That’s the team’s policy – and Tony Sparacino of West Allis is steamed.

He wrote the Packers and several newspapers, after nine members of his family showed up with eight tickets to the Aug. 15 exhibition game against Cleveland – and they were told the baby needed a ticket.

Sparacino’s son Mark gave the baby his seat, and he bought one from somebody else.

The Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers let kids 2-and-under go in for free as long as they sit on an adult’s lap.

But Packers’ ticket director Mark Wagner says everybody needs a ticket to get into Lambeau, regardless of age and he’s gotten almost no complaints about it in the 32 years he’s worked for the Pack.

Wagner told Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist Jim Stingl that letting babies in for free would cause safety problems.

Stingl questioned whether that many babies would show up, especially after it gets cold.

Wagner said it would be a lot. He said Packer fans “pride themselves on starting them young.”
