SPRING VALLEY—The eighth annual Half-Marathon and 5K Run/Walk is planned for Saturday, May 15, as part of the Syttende Mai celebration in Woodville.
This event takes place on the Wildwood Trail, a scenic, abandoned rail grade, no asphalt, located between Woodville and Spring Valley. The course is certified, and considered “flat and fast.” Water will be available along the trail and refreshments provided at the finish line. Chip timing will be used again this year.
Registration will be from 6 to 7:30 a.m. in the parking area of Zion Lutheran Church in Woodville. Signs will be posted. The Half-Marathon will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K at 8:15 a.m. near the Citizens State Bank on Main Street.
Cost for the Half-Marathon is $30 and $25 for the 5K. Participants will be given a T-shirt or can deduct $5 from the registration fee if no shirt is wanted. Awards will be given for first, second and third place winners in each age group for male and female. The medals will be presented as soon as the top three finishers in an age group have completed the race.
