Six seniors at Brookfield East High School will not graduate with their classmates Saturday, because of a prank they pulled.

Supt. Matt Gibson said they went on the school’s roof and built a swingset. The seniors were given three-day suspensions that include Saturday’s commencement ceremony.

A construction project is taking place at Brookfield East, and an overnight worker saw the youngsters early Wednesday and contacted a school custodian.

That person called administrators and the police.

Gibson said the students’ parents have appealed the suspensions, and he’ll issue a response shortly.

The suspensions began Wednesday, but Gibson said Thursday and Friday don’t count because seniors are not in school those days.
