Sunday, Eau Claire had 2.3 inches of rain, a new record for the date.
De Soto in southwest Wisconsin had just more than 1.5 inches.
Quarter-sized hail fell near Chippewa Falls Sunday night and near Loyal in Clark County in the early afternoon.
The National Weather Service says the storms are being caused by an unstable warm front moving northward through the Upper Midwest.
The front will leave early Monday and dry weather is expected at least into Thursday.
Meanwhile, flood warnings continue along the Rock River in Jefferson and Rock counties, the Crawfish River in Jefferson County and the Fox River near Berlin.
The Rock River at Newville was still more than two feet above its flood stage as of late Sunday afternoon.
