An 82-year-old woman must retake her driver’s tests, after she drove through a chain-link fence Sunday at Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport.

Sheriff’s sergeant Phil Wentzel said the Cudahy woman was going east when her car veered off Layton Avenue in a heavy rainstorm.

It crashed through a perimeter fence at the airport, and drove another 250 yards before a tire went flat near a group of hangars.

Sheriff’s deputies met her there and she told them she had no idea what happened.

The woman and her 85-year-old passenger both escaped injury.

The driver was cited for not controlling her vehicle.

She’ll have to retake both her written and road tests to get her license back.
