The UW-River Falls women’s hockey team erupted for 20 goals over the weekend on its way to sweeping Marian University 7-2 and 13-1.
The Falcons, winners of seven straight, have outscored their opponents 29-3 in their last four games and maintain a one-point lead over Adrian College for first place in the NCHA standings. UWRF is currently 12-2-2 in league play while Adrian is 12-5-1. The Falcons, 14-4-2 overall, are ranked sixth in the latest USCHO.com Division III poll.
Crysta Lowell of White Bear Lake, Minn., tied a school record with five points in Saturday’s 13-1 victory over Marian. Lowell had a goal and four assists while Amanda Ryder and Chloe Kinsel had two goals and an assist each and Dani Buehrer scored two goals. Katie Batters, Brook Story, Sam Greeley, Alice Cranston, Allie Olson and Kait Mason scored one goal each as UWRF outshot Marian 68-8.
Batters scored two goals and Kinsel and Story had a goal and assist each in Friday’s 7-2 victory. Lowell, Mason and Amanda Ryder added a goal apiece as the Falcons outshot Marian 63-14.
The Falcons will host St. Scholastica at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, and 2:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9.
