The River Falls School District’s Community Education program is preparing to sponsor the second annual Daddy Daughter Dance.

The occasion is open to girls ages 3-10 who are escorted by a father, grandfather or brother.

The dance is 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the high school commons.

Community Education Coordinator Monique Squires said excitement and interest for the dance is building.

“I had a dad call me on Friday saying that he was changing his international travel plans so he could attend this event with his daughter,” she said. “It is heartwarming to me that dads and grandpas of River Falls are so willing to spend this evening with their daughter. This will be a ‘feel good’ event for sure.”

Tony Pechacek of River Falls with Showtime Entertainment was hired to be disc jockey. He will play music from both dads’ and daughters’ generations.

The cost is $30 per couple and $10 for each additional daughter.

This covers a souvenir professional photo, complimentary hot fudge sundaes, special gifts for girls, and crafts and activities for daughters and dads to do together.

"The Community Education Daddy Daughter Dance is a great opportunity for fathers and grandfathers to spend quality one-on-one time with their daughters,” Squires said. “I had a similar experience with my father as a young girl and still remember every detail!

“Every girl secretly wants to be a princess...and this event will surely make her feel like Cinderella at the ball.

“Don't miss this chance to make special memories with your little princess. We have close to 100 couples signed up already, make sure to get your tickets soon."

Squires said decorations for Friday’s dance will have a Valentines’ Day theme.

To register for the Daddy Daughter Dance, go to www.rflearns.org or visit the Community Ed office at the high school.

Those who preregister will receive a coupon for a discounted pizza dinner.

Last year the Daddy Daughter Dance was sponsored by the River Falls YMCA. The Y has since left River Falls.

That first Y-sponsored dance, however, was deemed a success and drew 75 couples.
