The Wildcat girls’ basketball team dropped a pair of Big Rivers Conference games last week, 47-38, Tuesday, Jan. 8, to Eau Claire North and 42-22 Friday, Jan. 12 in Hudson.
River Falls fell behind early in both games, trailing 15-7 at the end of one to the Huskies and 8-2 to the Raiders.
The Cats cut an 11-point halftime deficit against Eau Claire North to nine, 33-24, by the end of the third quarter but couldn’t get any closer. Lexi Knotek and Karly Murphy led River Falls with nine points each and Amanda Rohl finished with eight while Lauren Steinhoff had six and Christa Anderson, Joellen Turner and McKenna Hage scored two points each.
Despite being held to two first-quarter points Friday night in Hudson the Cats trailed by just seven, 16-9, at the half. Hudson opened up a 29-14 third quarter lead before pulling away for the 20-point victory.
Murphy scored ten points in the loss and Turner had five while Knotek and Hage finished with three each and Amelia Kjos added a free throw.
The Wildcats, now 2-9 overall, 0-5 in the Big Rivers Conference, host Menomonie (3-11, 0-5) 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18.
