Letter: Tax stalemate needs big dose of honestyAll I ask is for Democrats to be honest about what the “fiscal cliff” discussion is truly about.

All I ask is for Democrats to be honest about what the “fiscal cliff” discussion is truly about.
The current discussion out of D.C. is about the current tax rates (the rates that have been in place for 10 years).
Democrats are NOT offering tax cuts to the middle class (only to leave them where they are now) but are offering tax hikes on those making over $250,000. Republicans are NOT offering tax cuts for the rich, only to leave current tax rates where they now stand for all.
So when you hear Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, or Jay Carney saying that Obama wants to give the middle class a tax cut and that Republicans want to give “the rich” tax cuts, they are flat out lying.
Democrats also need to understand that we don’t have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem and Obama is completely unwilling to address the spending side of the equation.
But I guess that is a discussion for another day.
