Reports keep coming about how bad unemployment is, but Eau Claire-based Menards badly needs 50 good employees for its store in Minot, ND.
The “Eau Claire Leader-Telegram” says the need is so great, Menards plans to fly people to Minot on a private jet to and from their jobs on a weekly basis plus give them food and lodging while they’re there working.
A booming oil patch in the area has created thousands of jobs, many of which were taken from the local retail industry. As a result, stores there are scrambling to find workers who are nowhere to be found locally.
Menards is a home improvement retail company. At a recent job fare, it offered people $13 per hour plus overtime to work 50-60 hours in four or five days a week, with the chance for overtime, weekend pay and specific positions.
