Board of Education Special Meeting Minutes

October 15, 2012

The special scheduled meeting of the River Falls Board of Education was called to order on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 6:03 p.m. by President Stacy Johnson Myers in the River Falls District Office conference room, 852 E Division Street. It was ascertained that notice of the meeting had been properly posted at the appointed locations, and announcements sent to WEVR Radio Station, St. Paul Pioneer Press, and the Eau Claire Leader Telegram.

PRESENT

President Stacy Johnson Myers, Treasurer Manville Kenney, and members Rich Gerczak, Mike Miller and Maura Watson were present. Also present were Superintendent Tom Westerhaus, Director of Academic Services Mike Johnson, Principals Mark Chapin and Rick Cleary, and father Joshua Shelton-Davies and student Hart Shelton-Davies.

RECEIVE FEEDBACK ON BOARD POLICY 411.2 RELATED TO BULLYING

Hart Shelton-Davies spoke on his experience of being bullied and, along with his father, made recommendations as to how to address student needs of victims of bullying in the future. Board President Johnson-Myers requested the Education Program Committee to consider changes to Policy 411.2-Bullying, to strengthen the manner in which victims of bullying are treated.

ADJOURNMENT

President Johnson Myers declared the meeting adjourned at 6:43 p.m.
