AAUW speech addresses women’s pay, education

Dr. Catherine Hill, AAUW director of research, will present the findings of her most recent research, “Graduation to a Pay Gap: The Earnings of Women and Men One Year After College Graduation,” at the Tuesday, Nov. 13, AAUW-RF branch meeting.

The meeting will be held at the River Falls Public Library, 140 Union Street, with the business meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. and Hill’s presentation following at 7:30 p.m.

This meeting is open to the public. Visitors are welcome to attend.

At AAUW, Hill focuses on higher education policy and women’s economic security.

She has a bachelor and master’s degree from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in policy development from Rutgers University.

She has authored numerous reports and articles including “Crossing the Line: Sexual Harassment at School, Why So Few?” “Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math,” and “Where the Girls Are: The Facts about Gender Equity in Education.”

In addition, Catherine Heffernan, manager of Major and Planned Giving at AAUW where she works with members and donors of AAUW to support its many programs and projects, will speak briefly about the AAUW Funds and how they are used.

There will be an opportunity for persons joining AAUW at the meeting as new members will be eligible to join for half-cost dues.

AAUW membership is open to any person who has an associate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
