Residents may have seen the crews out planting trees during a three-week period in October.
City Forester Tony Steiner said River Falls purchased 125 trees for the parks and rights of way throughout the city. It is part of the city’s forestry program to budget money each year for trees -- removal, replacement and maintenance. That usually means planting trees each fall.
The city planted several varieties of trees including disease-resistant maple, oak, linden, hackberry and elms.
iver Falls also planted several Kentucky coffee trees in city parks; Steiner said the crews avoided placing those in neighborhood boulevards since they’re nice trees once established but don’t “look like much” for the first few years.
