Living Well: A Women’s Wellness Encounter, comes for the 6th time in a row 6-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at the River Falls High School, 818 Cemetery Road. Visitors pay nothing to see educational presentations, meet health-focused vendors, and have refreshments.

During the event, organizers say $3,000 worth of prizes will be given away, including such things as massages, personal training and healing sessions.

Attendees will hear special guest speaker and Ellsworth native Tasha Schuh, who was recently named Ms. Wheelchair USA. After a theater accident at high school left her paralyzed from the chest down, Schuh redirected her life and recently wrote the book, “My Last Step Backwards.”

She is also an associate pastor at the Abundant Life Church in River Falls.

Dr. Amy Schreiner and the team at Horizon Family Chiropractic host and organize the event, which will include more than a dozen women-centric businesses participating. Those include:

Schreiner said, “We’ve planned the event so that women of all ages can come together for a relaxing, interactive and entertaining evening that is all about them. We invite them to come with their friends and unwind, laugh and learn about the latest in health, wellness, and fitness. You’ll definitely walk away having learned something new.”

Besides Schuh, the event includes a special presentation both from Lady Katherine and from Kangen Water. Schreiner said both talks will be about general health.

Katherine elaborates on finding passion in life, and Kangen will talk about the important role water plays in people’s lives.

Lady Katherine specializes in “women’s fitness with a touch of sass.” Classes include fitness for every level, make and model, as well as the alternative classes of pole dancing and signature, which is exotic dancing for fitness. She promises fast results and offers “the best parties” for celebrating special occasions.

Kangen Water asks in its promotional literature: “Are you drinking water that supports wellness, or water that is aging you with acid?” The company offers water produced through ionization that boasts increased hydration, balanced body PH, increased blood oxygenation and potent anti-oxidants.

Schreiner said the Living Well expo began as an informal women’s night six years ago that she’d arranged to say thank you to Horizon Family Chiropractic patients.

“We had a few women here and we had a great night,’ she said, “and now it has blossomed into an amazing Wellness expo.”

She continues to organize the expo, she says, because she is passionate about the health and wellness of people in the community. Schreiner also feels fortunate to have Tasha Schuh as a guest speaker, calling her “an amazing inspiration.”
