Chareles Vander Wielen, 25, Appleton, has been charged with a felony after he allegedly kicked his roommate’s puppy to death because he couldn’t find any more beer in their refrigerator.
The defendant is due in Outagamie County Circuit Court on November 13, after being charged with mistreating an animal while causing death. Police quoted Vander Wielen as saying he didn’t recall very much about the incident – but did remember getting angry after seeing no beer in the fridge then pacing around his apartment before he kicked what looked like a football.
Officers said he later admitted killing the dog and called himself a danger to society.
