Governor Scott Walker issued an order for flags in the state to fly at half-staff from sunrise until sunset Saturday, Oct. 6 as a mark of respect for firefighters in the state who have given their lives in the line of duty.
The lowering order happens in on the Legislature-declared Firefighters Memorial Day and happens in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week Oct. 7-13. The day and week honors “firefighters heroically rush into danger, risking their lives to render faithful and honorable service to the people of this great state…and the people of Wisconsin recall and respect the sacrifices of the brave firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty.”
