Lowered flag honors pioneering astronaut

President Barack Obama issued on Monday, Aug. 27, a presidential proclamation for flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, Aug. 31, as a mark of respect on the day of his interment to Neil Armstrong, world-famous astronaut and the first man to walk on the moon – Neil Armstrong.

The President proclaims that flags at the White House, all public buildings and grounds, military posts, naval stations and vessels, as well as embassies, legations, consular offices and other facilities abroad should be lowered.
