Wildcats dominate Tigers in season opener

The Wildcat football team scored on its first four possessions of the game on its way to a season opening 47-14 victory over the New Richmond Tigers Friday night, Aug, 24, at David Smith Stadium at Ramer Field.
The Cats took advantage of two Tiger turnovers while racing out to a 33-0 lead. River Falls led 33-7 at halftime.
Quarterback Alex Call threw a pair of touchdown passes—an 11-yard strike to John Maillette and a 47-yarder to Brad Freeborn, while Maillette ran one in from a yard out and Josiah Harris added a 16-yard touchdown run to stake River Falls to a 27-0 lead.
Freeborn returned a punt 65-yards for a score to make it a 33-0 ballgame before the Tigers got on the board on a 69-yard touchdown pass from Caleb Kier to Connor O’Laughlin to make it a 33-7 game at halftime.
Call added a 5-yard touchdown run on the Wildcats’ first possession of the second half, and after a 2-yard touchdown run by New Richmond’s Tanner Hoppe, backup quarterback Jon Krueger capped the Wildcat scoring with a 2-yard score to make the final 47-14.
