Fighting Fish to open WBA playoffs in Osceola
The 2012 Wisconsin Baseball Association playoff field is set and the defending state champion River Falls Fighting Fish earned one of eight No. 1 seeds and will travel to Osceola for the WBA semifinal round Aug. 11-12. The 2012 Wisconsin Baseball Association playoff field is set and the defending state champion River Falls Fighting Fish earned one of eight No. 1 seeds and will travel to Osceola for the WBA semifinal round Aug. 11-12.
The Fish will take on the Bruce Belters in a first round game Saturday, Aug. 11, at 5 p.m. at Oakey Park. The No. 2 seed Eau Claire Bears and No. 3 Ellsworth Hubbers will meet Saturday at 2 p.m. Oakey Park is located two blocks east of Hwy. 35, on Seventh Ave, in Osceola.
Saturday’s winners will square off Sunday at 3 p.m. for a berth in the WBA finals Aug. 17-19 in Osseo.
The Fighting Fish won their third straight St. Croix Valley Baseball League championship this season with a league record of 14-1 while posting an overall record of 28-9. Bruce finished 11-9 in Independent League play.
The Eau Claire Bears finished in third place in the South Division of the Chippewa Rivers League with a record of 17-5, and had an overall record of 25-11, while the Ellsworth Hubbers finished 10-6 in SCVBL play, 15-6 overall.
