The Red Cliff Indian tribe will open almost 90 acres of park land to the public Aug. 3 in Frog Bay Tribal National Park north of Bayfield.
This is the first time that a tribally-owned or controlled national park is opening to the public.
Frog Bay features a variety of tall trees, almost 90 species of birds, and a host of wildlife that includes bears, bobcats, wolves, beavers – and of course, deer. There’s also a quarter-mile of sandy beaches, but folks will have to walk to get there. Parking will be limited to keep trail damage to a minimum.
