Bob Williams retired from the River Falls Post Office Tuesday, July 31 after being postmaster for eight years. He has worked for the Postal Service for a total of 37 years, starting as a clerk in a St. Paul branch. “I saved the best for last,” Williams said of the River Falls Post Office. Williams and his wife Sue, will enjoy their boat on the St. Croix River in Hudson during summer. Williams also looks forward to getting away in winter, since he will have “plenty of time to travel,” he said. Williams hopes to travel to Palm Desert in California to improve his golf game with his 18-hole handicap. The postmaster position will be up for grabs. Roger Kunz will assume the position of officer in charge until it’s filled. “Roger is more than qualified to get my job,” Williams said. But for now, the outgoing postmaster says goodbye to mail and hello to retirement.
