Wildcat Hall of Fame set for inductees, Golf tourney, banquet Aug. 3

Eight individuals and one team will join last year’s inaugural Wildcat Hall of Fame class when the second annual Wildcat Hall of Fame Golf Tournament and Banquet takes place Friday, Aug. 3, at Kilkarney Hills Golf Club.

Eight individuals and one team will join last year’s inaugural Wildcat Hall of Fame class when the second annual Wildcat Hall of Fame Golf Tournament and Banquet takes place Friday, Aug. 3, at Kilkarney Hills Golf Club.

The Wildcat Hall of Fame was established last year to highlight the accomplishments of River Falls High School alumni, coaches and friends.

This year’s class includes athletes Jay Wollan (RFHS Class of 1966), Thomas J. Murphy (1967), Kim (Robey) Huggett (1979), Mike Benedict (1989) and Carolyn M. Klecker (1992). Former Wildcat wrestling coach Dave Brandvold will be inducted into the Coaches category and Bob Dawson will be honored in the Legacy category, while Howie Nelson will enter the hall as Distinguished Citizen.

The 2001-02 Wildcat gymnastics team, the first team to win a state championship in RFHS history, will be the inaugural team inducted into the hall.

The day’s festivities will begin with the 2012 Wildcat Hall of Fame Golf Tournament, sponsored by the RFHS Pep Club, with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 4. Cost for the 4-person scramble is $80 per person and includes golf, cart, dinner and the Hall of Fame Banquet. Cost for the dinner and banquet only is $20

Dinner banquet only tickets will be sold at First National Bank and WESTconsin Credit Union through Aug. 1 Tickets will increase $5 at the door with no guarantee of getting a seat.
