It’s not just drivers who are annoyed by the construction on Hwy. 65 north of Roberts. The state DOT says contractors are also being held up because people keep moving road signs and barricades and driving through the road work.
Crews are building a series of roundabouts, and workers say they’ve found signs and pylons knocked over, moved, and even thrown into ditches. The DOT says those caught can get fined up to $326 and go to jail for up to two months.
Project leader David Koepp says it’s dangerous to drive through road construction – and removing or altering the signs and barriers only delays progress.
