My son is a physician practicing internal medicine in Minneapolis.
He called last Thursday soon after the news about the health care law came in. He was so joyful he could hardly contain himself.
He tried to explain to me why it made him so happy, and it seemed to boil down to a belief that his job is now going to be more what he loves, that is helping patients, and less what he’d rather not do, that is paperwork.
In addition, he said he would now be able to order tests and prescribe medications without wondering whether the patient could afford it.
I asked if he knows why many people seem resistant to this new legislation, and he said, “They don’t understand it yet -- when they get the message straight, the misleading things they’ve been told will disappear.”
Since I believe that myself, I joined in the celebration.
If you’re not sure, why not ask your own doctor? You might learn a lot
