The overwhelming heat and humidity this summer is not very conducive to running outside or working out. Thankfully, there is a new workout studio opening up.
“Dedicated to motivate and inspire you,” is the slogan for BodyRox, the workout studio opening downtown.
Body Rox is located on the corner of Pine and Main Street, between Bo Jon’s and the River Falls Community Food Pantry.
BodyRox will have its grand opening from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 7. Owner Tanya Snell is excited to have her studio completely open and ready for business.
“So far we just have to finish up the childcare center and get a few more things before we can get in full swing,” Snell said.
During the last couple of weeks, there have been a few classes here and there at BodyRox that were $5 drop-in fee classes. The classes that BodyRox offers are part of the Les Mills Company.
“The Les Mills classes are all about community and having the support of the people around you to get through your workout,” Snell said. “That’s what I want for BodyRox -- a place where people can come, make friends and be a part of something beneficial to them.”
There will be four classes offered at BodyRox: BodyPump, BodyStep, BodyAttack and BodyCXWorx.
Two more classes will be added in the future: BodyCombat and BodyFlow.
“All of the classes are 60 minutes long,” Snell said. “They make sense and flow for a reason so you can get the biggest benefit from it.”
The different types of classes are listed below with the overall nature of the class:
- Pump- barbell workout
- Step- cardio and step
- CXWorx- tubing and plates
- Attack- sports based
- Combat- martial arts
- Flow- Pilates, Tai Chi and focused on mind and body.
Snell used to be an instructor at the YMCA located inside the old EconoFoods, but since the renovations and new name, she has wanted to open up a place of her own.
“It’s a work in progress and we are just learning as we go,” Snell said. “But we are addicted to this already and we love it and what it could do for others.”
As of right now, Snell is the only instructor at BodyRox.
She will be adding her other instructors into the mix as classes and registration picks up.
All of the instructors at BodyRox are certified by Les Mills to teach the Body classes. There will be three instructors coming on and they are, Joanne Larson, Marcy Ward and Carey Paulson.
“I’m excited to start teaching in River Falls again,” Larson said.
Snell is a long-time resident of River Falls and wanted to open up a studio in River Falls ever since the Y closed. Snell found the space between Bo Jon’s and the pantry and decided to move on it quickly.
“We didn’t have to do any major remodels,” Snell said. “It’s a great big space for class and has a nice space in the back for child care which we have remodeled.”
Snell is putting a high importance on the child care center at BodyRox. Being a mother of four and a stay-at-home mom, she wanted to make sure other parents had a place to come and workout with their kids being taken care of.
“It’s important to not have to worry about kids or family for an hour and to focus on you and your workout because you are taking the time to focus on yourself for just 60 minutes a day,” Snell said. “Child care has allowed me to get out and meet other people while I work out.”
Snell is hoping to get a child care provider that is certified, have a couple high schools or stay-at home-moms to watch the kids while their parents work out.
With BodyRox having their grand opening on July 7, there will be mini classes held outside in the parking lot or in the studio to showcase what the classes will consist of. People can also participate if they think they would like to sign up with a membership.
There are memberships for individuals, family and the addition of child care as well.
- Individuals $45/month
- Family double rate (two family members) $80/month
- Child care is $10 extra per membership per month.
Trial memberships and student monthly memberships are also available, good for 8 classes per month and those prices vary.
Monthly memberships will be in effect on July 7. A single class is $10 and with child care it is $12 total for the class.
“Personally fitness has changed my life,” Snell said. “It builds a community within a community of health and motivation and you don’t get that on a machine.”
BodyRox will have a float for the River Falls Days Parade and will be doing blurbs of their classes and handing out flyers and water bottles of the duration of the parade. For more information, visit the coming-soon Body Rox website at www.bodyrox-fitness.com.
