Two men were hurt -- neither apparently suffered serious injuries -- in a head-on collision Sunday evening that closed a portion of Hwy. 29 between River Falls and Prescott for about two hours.

The crash happened when a westbound 2011 Cadillac driven by Gary Mollick, 56, of Welch, Minn., crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound pickup driven by Roger Fiedler, 70, of Prescott.

River Falls firefighters had to remove Fiedler from his vehicle and he was transported to River Falls Area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Deputy Jean Spletstoser of the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

He was later transferred to Regions Hospital, where a spokesperson said Monday morning he was in fair condition.

Mollick, who was said to be up and walking around at the scene, was also transported by ambulance to RFAH with "non-life threatening" injuries, Spletstoser said in a press release.

Traffic was detoured on CTH QQ as the pickup came to rest in the center of the roadway.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's department and Wisconsin State Patrol.

Police officers from River Falls and Prescott also responded to the crash, which occurred just west of 690th Avenue in the town of Clifton, as deputies were a distance away when the call was received at 7:31 p.m.

River Falls Area Ambulance personnel attended to those injured.
