Letter: Party of failure fails our country

I need to respond to a letter in last week’s Journal (“Can’t take any more lies and politicking”).
President Obama used an executive order with certain conditions to stop deporting children of undocumented immigrants.
The letter writer states that Obama “said he did not have the authority to do this himself without the approval of Congress.”
I don’t know where the writer heard this. On the Fox News channel Sean Hannnity showed a clip where Obama appeared to state this.
However, though clever (read, devious editing), Hannity and Fox News left out a following statement where Obama said he did have the authority for the executive order. Hardly fair or balanced.
The writer goes on to state that Obama should have done something about immigration policies three years ago. In fact, the Senate in 2010 passed an immigration bill with 55 votes.
The Republicans, whose stated goal is to make this a failed presidency, filibustered it.
Lastly the writer calls the executive order a “dictatorial process.”
If so, there is plenty of precedent. A quick Google search shows that presidents Reagan, H.W. Bush and George Bush all used executive orders to allow immigrants to bypass normal immigration procedures.
With their lies, misrepresentations and obstructions, Republicans are not only trying to make this a failed presidency, they are failing our country.
