Consumer protection launches Facebook page

Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has established launched a Facebook page for the Bureau of Consumer Protection:www.facebook.com/wiconsumer.

Wisconsin’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) has established launched a Facebook page for the Bureau of Consumer Protection:www.facebook.com/wiconsumer.

This page aims to help Wisconsin consumers, businesses and media representatives find the latest news on specific consumer topics including:

  • Product safety

  • Scams

  • Identity theft

  • Weights and measures

  • Civil forfeitures.

The page will also feature the Bureau’s “Consumer Alert” and general news releases.

As the DATCP receives information on emerging scams from the public, it will post updates through this Facebook page. It also gives consumers a chance to share experiences that might alert others to active scams.

Despite the potential for two-way dialogue with our agency through the Facebook page, DATCP will still require Wisconsin consumers to file formal written complaints if they have a grievance against a company.

People can still find, like, and comment on other DATCP agency news and events, including consumer information, at www.facebook.com/widatcp.

For additional information or details regarding specific postings on the Consumer Protection Facebook page, please contact Jerad Albracht, Communications Specialist for the Division of Trade and Consumer Protection, at 608-224-5007 or jerad.albracht@wisconsin.gov.
