River Falls residents and visitors can get a milk moustache and see lots of cool muscle cars all in the same day, at the first event that rolls two of River Falls’ best activities into one: Town ‘N Country Day and the first Summer Cruze-In take place Sunday, June 10.
Town ‘N Country Day traditionally marks the date when River Falls celebrates its dairy heritage through many different activities -- which happens in a few different locations this year and begins with a “free” while-supplies-last breakfast sponsored by local businesses.
- Get free breakfast 8-11 a.m. outside Dick’s Fresh Market, 1121 S. Main St.
- See the Heritage Tractor display 9-11 a.m. outside Dick’s
- Ride the Happ-E Hill Train 9-11 a.m. outside Dick’s and for a small fee
- Visit the milk-moustache booth 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Veterans Park
- Find fun kids’ activities noon to 2 p.m. in Veterans Park
- Cool off with free while-supplies-last root-beer floats 2-4 p.m. at Security Financial Bank, 1561 Commerce Court
- Move and groove at the kids’ street dance 2-4 p.m. at Security Financial
- See and touch animals at the petting zoo 2-4 p.m. at Security Financial.
Most residents remember last year’s first-ever series of Summer Cruze-Ins in River Falls.
People came out in droves to see the shows on four different summer dates -- one per month in June, July, August and September.
This year’s first event happens 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the same day as Town ‘N Country Day: Sunday, June 10. Visitors can’t miss the cars and other vehicles parked along Main Street.
The concept: Car and motorcycle enthusiasts from all around the region unwrap, uncover and otherwise reveal their muscle, classic and hot-rod cars.
Spectators at the cruises, which are like a show but not officially judged for prizes or money, see everything from customized bikes to carefully restored classic cars.
The autos come and go throughout the day, usually driving the downtown loop. As they walk along, people can see the cars and bikes from all sides and often, talk to their owners, too.
Participants from last year agree the car events did their job bringing visitors to downtown River Falls and creating something fun to do on a day that is typically slow downtown.
People can mark their calendars for the other Summer Cruze-In dates: July 8, Aug. 12, and Sept. 9.
Each event this year has a theme -- the first being Town ‘N Country Day. July’s theme is vintage motorcycles and rat rods, the August theme is speedway and go karts, and the September theme is a salute to veterans.
