County bans use of smokeless tobacco on the job

The County Board in Superior has voted to ban the use of snuff, snus, or leaf tobacco when working on county time. County Administrator Andy Lisak says cleanliness is the main concern.

He said drinking fountains have to be kept clean, and nobody wants to find pop bottles with spit juice in county vehicles. Donna Wininsky of the American Lung Association tells Wisconsin Public Radio it’s not common for local governments to ban smokeless tobacco by their employees, and Douglas County is taking the lead.
