I’m writing to send a great big thank you to Officer Steven Nygaard of the UWRF Campus Police.
On the afternoon of May 12, while attending my grandson’s graduation ceremony, I set my purse on the floor by my chair.
I rushed out in order to get home for friends and family who were coming for a celebration, leaving my purse on the floor of the Knowles Center.
Later that night I realized my purse was missing. Early Sunday morning I contacted the campus police office and reached officer Nygaard.
He graciously offered to check at the locked building to see if he could located my purse.
He called back to inform me that after checking the trash as well as the area where I was seated, he was unable to locate my purse.
He stated that on Monday morning he could check with the individual in charge of the building to see if it had been turned in and was locked in a safe.
Indeed, someone had found my purse and turned it in and Officer Nygaard offered to deliver it to my home.
Which he did! I will never forget his kindness and concern and willingness to go the extra mile.
I also want to thank the person who found and turned in my purse with everything untouched and to all those individuals involved with keeping it safe.
I am now aware that I carry my life in my purse, and I need to be more responsible. I have always had faith in the goodness of people.
That faith is renewed. God bless you, I promise to pay it forward.
