Letter: How many new reasons can they dream up for getting rid of Walker?

The reasons that liberals want Gov. Walker defeated on June 5 change month by month.

The reasons that liberals want Gov. Walker defeated on June 5 change month by month.

Early on, it was to restore collective bargaining rights to public employee union members because they were cheated of their inalienable rights to taxpayer money.

That reason became less popular as taxpayers discovered that public employees were getting a much better deal than the taxpayers who funded the benefits, and school districts were doing just fine with freedom of choice.

Then, Walker needed to be defeated because he’s controlled by big business interests and the evil Koch Brothers.

That just didn’t catch on because logical voters know that successful businesses hire people who then spend money on products that other people make, and uncertainty about government regulation was stalling business expansion.

Oh, and out-of-state union money isn’t all that different from out-of-state corporate money. Both are legal.

Now, we have a lack of job creation causing hardship for the majority of Wisconsinites.

Except that recent statistics from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages show a gain of 23,321 public and private sector jobs between December 2010 and December 2011.

Not great, but vastly different than the estimated 33,900 lost jobs the Democrats are spouting.

In its May 19 endorsement of Gov. Walker, the left-leaning Milwaukee Journal Sentinel rightly pointed out that economic factors beyond the governor’s control are largely responsible for the job situation in Wisconsin.

It pointed out one reason for the recall — Walker’s tough stance with the state’s public-employee unions.

Walker’s policies have not hurt Wisconsin and hardly justify ending his term as governor. Nothing but criminal behavior or malfeasance should prompt a recall.

If Democrats win, prepare for more time and taxpayer money wasted on non-government business.
