Dozens of residents and college students took to Main Street on Thursday, April 26 for Take Back the Night 2012. Their message was clear - sexual violence is not okay.

Typically a crime of silence, with 97% of rapists, never being prosecuted, Take Back the Night is a way to say “You are not alone and we, as a community, don’t accept this violence.”

Ralliers were encouraged to make t-shirts and signs. During the night there was live music, speeches and food donated by local restaurants.

While marching, participants chanted, “2,4,6,8; no more date rape” and “Survivors unite, Take Back the Night.”
