Shooting victim’s mom seeks unedited version of 911 call

New concerns are being raised about the shooting death of an intruder at a home in Slinger almost two months ago.

Washington County sheriff’s deputies say they won’t release the entire tape of a 911 call made by Adam Kind’s wife about the same moment that her husband shot and killed Bo Morrison, 20, on March 3.

Morrison’s mother Lauri told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel she fears a cover-up, and she wonders if Kind made a racial slur that was bleeped out in an edited version of the tape released Tuesday.

Morrison was of mixed race and appeared to be African-American. He was shot March 3 while he hid in Kind’s enclosed porch after running from police officers. who were breaking up an underage drinking party next door.

Prosecutors later refused to charge Kind under Wisconsin’s new Castle Doctrine law, which presumes that deadly force is justified against most home intruders.

In a letter, Sheriff’s Lt. Martin Schulteis said people’s names were omitted from the 911 tape and his department’s reports because the district attorney had not included them in his report. If they were released, Schulteis said, the information could result in other crimes and endanger the safety of Kind’s family.

In the edited 911 call, Kind was heard saying “You stupid (bleep) kid.”

Lauri Morrison said she wondered what was bleeped out. The family’s lawyer seeks an unedited version of the call.

A couple of protest rallies have called for a repeal of the Castle Doctrine law in the wake of the Slinger shooting. But lawmakers of both parties say they have no intention of repealing it.
