Trio St. Croix to perform at Piano Festival in Shell Lake
Chamber music group Trio St. Croix will be performing at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, as part of the fourth annual Piano Festival.
Chamber music group Trio St. Croix will be performing at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, as part of the fourth annual Piano Festival.
Consisting of pianist Dr. Roger McVey, violinist Dr. Giselle Hillyer, and cellist Sally Dorer, the trio features classical chamber music performed by nationally and internationally renowned musicians.
Dr. McVey, who is also the featured clinician of the Piano Festival, has performed around the world in piano competitions and as a guest soloist. Recent performances have brought him to China, Korea, Mexico, Spain, and Italy, as well as New York and Atlanta. He was the top prizewinner in the International Beethoven Compeition and a semi finalist at the International Franz Liszt competition in Poland, where critics praised his “passionate artistry and electrifying virtuosity.”
McVey is currently a professor of piano at the UW-River Falls, where he teaches Applied Piano, Class Piano, Piano Proficiency, Music History, and Piano Pedagogy.
A pre-concert by piano students will be held at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students, and attendees 11 and under are free. A reception after the concert will give all in attendance a change to meet the musicians and enjoy complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres.
